Emily Allen is a bicycle advocate, alternative transportation consultant, Flexcar carsharing hotline staffer, bikeway photographer, GIS cartographer, and beginning old-timey blues fiddle player. Emily's academic background is in environmental studies and public health. Prior to working for eight years in applied research in environmental health and public health, Emily earned a master's from Harvard School of Public Health and a bachelor's from Yale University. A dedicated advocate for healthier, more sustainable, safer, more human-friendly transportation, especially bikeable cities, Emily chairs the Seattle Bicycle Advisory Board and serves on the board of the Bicycle Alliance of Washington. She lives in Seattle with her banjo-blues-learning husband Chris King. They figure being carfree has so far spared them one hundred thousand dollars and five million calories (used for walking and biking), give or take.
